This series of working papers is based on the results of the work of the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Analysis of Post-Socialist Development.

Topics of the working papers cover a wide range of issues in the following areas:

  • Theory of system transformation of post-socialist societies in the context of civilizational differences;
  • Socio-cultural and historic economical basis of transformation of social relations in the modern Russia in comparison with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS;
  • Civilizational differences between the forming socio-economic systems in Russia, countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS in the 1990s and 2000s;
  • Retrospective and comparative analysis of social stratification dynamics in Russia, countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS in the 1990s and 2000s;
  • Civilizational specifics of the creation of national power elites and large proprietors’ groups in post-Soviet Russia and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS;
  • Civilizational factors of possible vectors of development of social inequality in Russia and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS;

Papers by the staff of the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Analysis of Post-Socialist Development and other authors cooperating with the Laboratory and speaking at its roundtable discussions and seminars are published in the series.
