The HSE ratings in the Social Science Research Network

A new page entitled “The Ratings of the National Research University of the Higher School of Economics in the Social Science Research Network” has been put up on the HSE’s website. In this section, the Higher School of Economics has presented information regarding the university’s and its authors’ positions in terms of the quantity of scientific work, how often these works are viewed and downloaded, citings and various other parameters.

A new web page entitled “The Ratings of the National Research University of the Higher School of Economics in the Social Science Research Network” has been put up on the HSE’s website.

 

In this section, the Higher School of Economics has presented information regarding the university’s and its authors’ positions in terms of the quantity of scientific work, how often these works are viewed and downloaded, citings and various other parameters. The ratings of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) reflect the reality and quality of scientific research alongside the network activity of authors, research centres and universities. At present, amongst the 1400 universities and research centres which specialise in research on economics and other such related topics, the HSE has taken 9th place in for the quantity of its authors, and took 110th place in terms of the quantity of papers in SSRN. The HSE also was placed 133rd for its quantity of downloads, and 234th according to its level of citations.


In recent times a trend has been set towards the improvement of the Higher School of Economics’ criteria. On the one hand, this is linked with a rise in the activity of scientific associates of the university. For example, in the last 2 months the quantity of authors in the HSE in the SSRN has increased twofold, and in terms of the quantity of new papers, the university has been raised from 83rd to 21st place. Notably, an increased interest in the work of the HSE’s authors from external audiences testifies to the growth in quantity of downloads over the past 12 months. According to data, the index of the university has moved from 96th to 67th place.

 

The following authors have been named as the most read and/or cited authors of the HSE: D. Fantazzini, O.V. Lazareva, T. Frye, V.E. Gimpellson and A.V. Vernikov. From amongst the foreign professors who work at the university, T. Frye is cited the most often, and J. Nye has demonstrated the most public activity. From the Russian scientific associates who work for the HSE at this moment in time, O.V. Lazareva has taken first place in terms of the quantity of downloads and citations, and for the quantity of new work amongst the front runners; A.A. Bikova, M.M. Yudkevich and A.A. Yakovlev. From amongst the young scientific associates at the HSE whose works have received the most interest from subscribers to the SSRN: R.U. Kamalova, I.V. Soboleva, A.S. Sobolev and E.A. Lazarev. Moreover, the work of E.A. Lazarev, “Land, Votes and Violence: Political Effects of the Insecure Property Rights over Land in Dagestan” which has been published as a working paper of the Basic Research Programme, continues to lead the way in terms of the number of views amongst the works in this given category.
